Review 2023

Webinar of the XXXIV National Music Review ‘La musica unisce le scuole’ – ed 2023. Speaker: Tony Carnevale, composer ANORA – A non-rational approach to music: a method of musical education based on the development of one’s own artistic identity, through the creation and realisation of original music. An approach that then gave rise to research on the creative processes of human thought, on the human reaction to sound, and led to the need to increasingly clarify the meaning of the word ‘music’, to rediscover its original nature as a non-rational human language. Decisive, in this sense, was research in the field of psychology, which made it increasingly clearer and more natural to do research on creativity, bringing music back to being an expressive-representative need of the human being, which can only be perceived as such by another human being, freeing it from commonplaces, from beliefs, from any idea of innatism and from the idea of the ‘gift’ for a select few, to restore to all human beings the possibility and the right to express themselves through sounds. An approach and a method that become a tool to question the cultural approach and traditional didactics, highlighting their limits, also on a social level, derived from the unbalance towards the execution of what has been created by others, to the detriment of the development of creativity.
