1985 - Debut in Cinema

One of Tony’s initial experiences in the music profession was his work in pairing music with visuals, a field known as “applied music,” in which he swiftly showcased a natural talent.

TV Themes and Advertisements

In 1986, he composed and produced a major success in its genre: the music for the theme song of the RAI program “Appuntamento al cinema”, “Sigla Anicagis”,
which was used across all RAI networks, both television and radio, until the end of 2011.

The Super Telemusic compilation also included the track (Siglandia label – SGL 2CD 011).

In the same year, he composed and produced two other theme songs, one for the RAI program“Ved-RAI” and another for, “Parlamento in“.

Between 1987 and 1988, he composed and produced additional theme songs for RAI programs:- Apertura dei programmi RAI via satellite”, “Taccuino”, “Antologia – rubrica di Jazzand “Nuove proposte musicali”.

Between 1989 and 1992, he composed and produced several music tracks for national advertising campaigns:

      • In 1989, the ads for “Esso” e “Curcio Editore” and the institutional video “Numero verde – SIP”.
      • In 1990, the ads for “Videotel – SIP” and “Shalcon”,
      • In 1991, the RA anti tabacco campaign, the ads for “Nestlè”, “INA Assitalia” and “Nuove segreterie telefoniche – SIP”, which won the Premio Italia 90 for best commercial, selected at Siggraph 1990 and Nicograph 90.
      • In 1992, the “Hispot” ad for Maltese television.

The Venice Biennale

In 1986, Tony composed the quadraphonic music for the audiovisual installation “Immagine Continua” focused on Italian Baroque, at the Venice Biennale.He also created an arrangement “L’arte della fuga” by Johann Sebastian Bach, which the SIAE acknowledged as a semi-original work (Bach—Carnevale).

Events

In 1992, Tony composed and oversaw the artistic direction and music production of a symphonic suite for the video soundtrack of “A Jewel For Life”, an event held at the Park Avenue Armory in New York (USA), featuring international celebrities from culture, art, and sport

In 2003, he participated in the event “L’incanto Dell’Inutile” at the Libreria Amore e Psiche in Rome, performing his piano improvisations.

In 2004, he replicated the experience at the event “Rendere Visibile L’Invisibile”. at the Libreria Bibli in Rome, improvising on the piano using his own pieces“Sogno”, “Il Viaggio” and “Separazione”.

In 2007, he collaborated on the even “Acqualuce”
by M. Di Brigida, held at the Torretta Valadier in Rome, handling the composition, orchestral direction, piano performances, artistic direction, and soundtrack music production.

Dance

In September 1992, Tony composed, directed artistically, and produced the stage music for Renato Greco and Maria Teresa Dal Medico’s choreography Il Mago e La Strega, performed at the Porto Turistico of Amalfi.

In 1995, at the Cairo Opera House (Egypt), Maria Teresa Dal Medico’s choreographic works “Magma” and “Meditango” with music composed, conducted, and produced by Tony, who also performed as a pianist, artistic director, and music producer.(“Danza Sul Vulcano” e “Meditango”) whose Tony is a composer, conductor, pianist, artistic director and music producer.

In 1996, he worked on the stage music (“La Sfida” and “Il Mago e La Strega”) for choreographies by Francesca Zaccherini performed at the 8th Circumscription Theatre in Rome, as composer, conductor, pianist, artistic director and music producer. In addition, for the gala evening at the Teatro Armida in Sorrento. with choreography by Elisabetta Melchiorri, he composed, performed the piano and sampler parts, and was artistic director and music producer of the piece” Isabeau”.

In 1997, Tony composed, arranged, conducted the orchestra, played the piano, and oversaw the artistic direction and music production for the soundtrack of the choreographic work “Movimento” by Elisabetta Melchiorri and Tony Carnevale, performed at the Teatro Orione in Rome, the Nuovo Teatro San Raffaele, the Teatro Viganò, and the Cairo Opera House, later performed in 1998 at the Teatro Libero in Rome and in 1999 at the Teatro Flavio Vespasiano in Rieti.

He then created the entire soundtrack “III Movimento dfor Elisabetta Melchiorri and Tony Carnevale’s choreographic work performing the roles of composer, arranger, conductor, pianist, artistic director, and music producer. The work was performed at Castello Medievale di Civitella San Paolo, at Teatro Olimpico in Rome, atConference Center di Alexandria (Egitto) and at El Gomhouria Theatre de Il Cairo (Egitto).

Television Productions

One of Tony’s first experiences in television dates back to 1986 when he participated in the production of the show Festival hosted by Pippo Baudo on Canale 5 at the Centro Palatino in Rome as a music producer.

Between 1996 and 1998, at the Centro Palatino and Cinecittà in Rome, he managed the artistic direction and music production for the TV show Buona Domenica with Maurizio Costanzo, broadcast on Canale 5.

From 1997 to 2005, he worked as a music consultant and substitute conductor for the audio direction of the Concerto di Natale in Vaticano, featuring various artists, broadcast worldwide from the Sala Nervi, Vatican City.

In 1999, he worked as a music consultant and conductor for the audio direction of the TV show La Canzone Del Secolo with Pippo Baudo, which was broadcast on Canale 5 and recorded at Cinecittà in Rome.

In 2000, at the Centro Palatino in Rome, Tony oversaw the artistic direction and music production for the theme song of the Forum program, which was broadcast on Rete 4.

Cinema and Audiovisuals

One of Tony Carnevale’s initial experiences with audiovisuals was in 1989 when he composed the soundtrack (“Iron Horse”) for the video Race Timed Out by L. Di Biagio, which won the Fantoche Award at the 1990 Lucca Festival.

In 1999, the artist composed and produced the soundtrack for the video about the painter Vincenzo Balena (VHS Calabiana video). He also conducted the orchestra and performed the piano parts.

Between 2001 and 2004, Tony was responsible for composing, producing, and managing the artistic direction, as well as conducting the orchestra, performing the piano parts, and handling the recording, mixing, and mastering of the soundtracks for the following films:

      • 2001 “Una bellezza che non lascia scampo by Francesca Pirani (DVD Millennium Storm). Also see the related CD;
      • 2003L’acqua…il fuoco“ by Luciano Emmer with G. Giannini e S. Ferilli (Buskin Film – DVD Sony Pictures Home Entertainment).
      • Also in 2003, he participated as an actor in Marco Bellocchio’s film Buongiorno notte.
      • 2004 “È quattro giorni che ti amo” short film by Francesco Lomastro. “Non cadrà” (end credits), received a special jury mention at the 13th Arcipelago International Short Film Festival.
      • In 2007, he composed and produced some music for the soundtrack of Rocco Riccio’s film Isole (Titobros Film).
      • In 2014, he composed and produced some music for the soundtrack of Giambattista Assanti’s film Ultima Fermata (Gekon Productions).

In 2006, he composed and produced part of the soundtrack for Benedetta Scatafassi’s audiovisual installation “Metavilla”, exhibited at ARTEPADOVA, the Contemporary Art Fair in Padua.

In 2016, he worked on the soundtrack and direction of the multimedia work “L’unicorno dal corno d’oro” by Bimba Landamann and Tony Carnevale. This concert of images and sounds, freely inspired by the book written by Sylvaine Nahas and illustrated by Bimba Landmann, and published by ARKA Editions, was held on July 16 and 30, 2016.

In 2017, he composed and produced some of the music for the soundtrack of Enrico Caria’s documentary “L’uomo che non cambiò la storiaThe Man who didn’t change history” (Istituto Luce), which won the Golden Globe for Best Documentary.

In 2024, Tony Carnevale composed and produced the soundtrack for Vakhim, a film by Francesca Pirani. The film was showcased at the Venetian Nights, Off-Space of the Authors’ Days, in collaboration with Isola Edipo, during the 81st Venice International Film Festival.

The film won the Signum Award, presented by the audience, at the 18th edition of the Salina Docfest.

That same year, Tony was inducted as a member of the Association of Composers of Film Music (ACMF), the leading Italian professional association in the field.
